Video Recording Page
Joining In On Virtual Choir?
here’s a detailed tutorial to get you started!
If you would like to join in on virtual choir, this page will give you more detailed instructions.
First, watch the tutorial below to help you see the steps that you will perform on the “Recording” page.
When you load the “Recording” page, you first will see the simple 10 step instructions, next a small icon with a video camera that says”Record Video” and below that, an audio track section.
The audio track will be labelled with the name of the hymn you’ll be singing. Get your hymn book and listen to the audio to become familiar with the tune and tempo. This audio file will serve as your backing track. The hymn may or may not have an introduction, and if there is no introduction, you will be counted in with (3-2-1) instead.
You will need to wear headphones (or earbuds) in order to record WITHOUT the audio file playing through your computer (or phone) speakers while you are singing. If you haven’t worn headphones and sung before, it is helpful to leave one ear of the headphones just behind the ear so you can “hear” yourself (or just put one earbud in).
Once you’re feeling prepared, you are ready to record yourself for the virtual choir video.
Your next step is to click the “Record Video” button. When you click the “Record Video” button for the first time, the web page will ask you if it can use your camera (in the upper left corner of your web browser) and you will click the “Allow” option to give your permission. You only have to do that one time as in the future, the recording application will remember your choice.
You will now see yourself in the little video screen. To record yourself, click the small red button in the video recorder window called “Record”. The time underneath will start running down, but there’s no rush, the recorder is set up with a lot of extra time so you can take your time.
Now that the recorder is running, you will click the audio file beneath that to start the audio playing.
Start singing after your introduction or the countdown in.
You can record yourself up to 3 times. If you’re not happy with one, click “Redo” and that one will be scrapped. Each recording will automatically be saved (nothing to send) and the one that’s complete and works best with everyone else will be used in the virtual choir video. Don’t worry if you mess it up as you are learning. Remember, it’s not about being perfect, it’s about worship, community and celebration.
The organ track will be added in at the end once all videos have been received.
So enjoy! Let’s have fun!
