Proverbs 16:24 ‘Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.’
The sudden isolation of COVID-19 caught all of us off guard. No one was expecting to go from our weekly services to nothing. To combat the isolation, the Wednesday weekly Zoom chats began. It was nothing formal or prepared, just a chance to reach out to our fellow members of Campbellford, Hastings and Roseneath for some news, encouragement, and of course, smiles.
Despite the computer/Zoom challenges, we were able to get updates on how everyone was holding up, share some local news and even a recipe or two. It never failed at each meeting, someone’s dog would want outside, bark or just create mischief. The sweetness of smiles in our mid-week Zoom chats certainly helped in a very difficult time. My time with the meetings only lasted a short while as I was called back to work, but I understand that Larry took over the meetings in spectacular fashion.
Indeed, Larry Ricciardelli kindly took over the arrangements for our mid-week sessions, which soon evolved into chat combined with bible study. With the coming of summer, the outdoor beckoned, and we moved to the Christ Church lawn as real people. Larry and Bryce now shared and guided the discussion as seemed relevant. We came with lawn chair, water, our own bible together with any accoutrement we might need. It was particularly interesting to see and hear different versions of the bible. Social distancing was carefully observed, but we moved around the circle depending on the weather, the sun and the accompanying car noises.
Such changes within a few months……what & where next?
